Coco sheds an awful lot. One morning our living room floor was clean, in the arfternoon it was covered in hair Exclamation She didnt shed when she was a little puppy but now we have to vacuum daily. She is 8 months at the moment, is she likley to carry on shedding this much when she is older Question

Hiya Guys

Coco luckly doesn't shed at all. Her coat is quite wavey and as yet has not required clipping. Guess there all different in there own little way even from the same litter.

Hi everyone - Jennie Wren does not shed at all. She's such a pleasure in every way. Her coat is curly and soft and beautiful with quite a few grey flecks which are very endearing.
It just goes to show that with the F1s you can have coats that shed alot, coats that don't shed much and coats that don't shed at all! cyclops

Hi all,
Toby (Jennie Wren's brother) has been shedding for the past few weeks, he too has a thick wavy coat with grey flecks in it. I think it's losing less now than it was, I was wondering too if it would last and what would happen so thank you Rach for putting this forum up.
Interestingly, it hasn't affected either my son or my mothers asthma. Normally dogs shedding does so we're very lucky.

Sam also has a thick wavy coat, with single grey hairs . He has been shedding the last couple of weeks, but now its getting less. When I groom him, there is always quite a lot of hair in the brush.

Maddie (an F1) sheds a bit but so little in comparison to my previous dog, a black lab - he'd lie down for half an hour, get up and leave what looked like half his coat in a film on the carpet!

Has anyone else heard of the 'Furminator' comb? I bought one recently at the Cold Wet Nose show and it's really amazing! I can brush Mads with a normal brush and then run the Furminator over her and it takes out loads even though the brush was empty! A good buy if anyone has a very 'sheddy' dood!

Thanks for that Jennie, I hadn't heard of that one but will look out for one now. Ruby is a bit 'sheddy' at the moment, but like you say when i compare it to my cousins Lab its hardly anything!

Daisy looks like she should shed, but she doesn't Very Happy Very Happy SHe is very much an easy-care dood - muddy one second, clean the next, quick drying, minimal brushing! Her sister sheds like anything though, so I guess there's no telling what you're gonna get!

Poppy on the other hand doesn't shed at all, but is currently changing her coat and is matting for England Shocked I am resisiting getting her clipped short for the time being, but may have to go that way if I find I can't cope (or the dog sitter doesn't cope when we are away which is more likely!) I've just had a really helpful phone conversation with a lady from Dezyna-dogs about grooming, but if her approach doesn't work it's all coming off Sad Luckily Pops is very good about being groomed, but would prefer it if all the attention was paid to her tummy - she rolls on her back whenever I get the combs out!

It's all very well having these non-sheding doods, but I've a lab as well, and we get drifts of black hair blowing across the floor - just like the deserts in the Westerns Laughing

The Ferminator sounds intriguing - I too will try and find one!

I've not heard of a ferminator. can you get me one as well Sarah please. Our guard dog is a german shepherd and he maults, seems like all the time, but instead of black hair blowing around its maiinly tan,he too loves being groomed.

Toby is still shedding, sometimes there's not as much, then other times there's loads. My mother thinks his diet may be a little deficient so I've been giving him the malt with fish oils again. We use both brushes and combs but I'll think I'll get a ferminator, thanks for the tip!

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone went ahead and bought a furminator? If so, what do you think?

Hi Rach,

Well our Labradoodles dont shed at all, we stripe their coates and they go to the groomers fairly regularly, however i know that some doodles do shed and that it varies in different degrees.
