Chewing puppies

Chewing puppies
Hi we had lots of chewing when Toby was a small puppy. When he got all his teeth it seemed to stop, now all of a sudden he's been chewing holes in his blanket, has eaten a memory stick and trying to chew anything that he can get hold of! We bought more toys too (chewing ones). Do you think it's yet another phase? He's just about seven months old.

Hi Elisabeth,
We've just gone through another stage like that with Ruby, unfortunately it always seems to be something that doesn't belong to us, ie Graces friends party shoes, the hire car key, she did go through a £150 laptop charger - oopps!!! We did find that those knotted hide bones kept her amused for a while!

Oh dear Elizabeth what a little shocker just when you think they are sorted, perhaps he is still cutting some teeth Have you tried a bone or a kong is good filled with goodies, keeps them amused for a while at least. If you are worried and would like to call me please do. In the meantime keep your computer wires well hidden. Sarah little Pommy was sat on her feet and chewed through a wire.
Re: Chewing puppies
Oh I hope he doesn't chew any more wires. The first chewing phase had the telephone wires and plugs chewed. My i-pod speakers charger chewed. I don't think would like any more! (Famous last words). All wires where possible are carefully put away!
Re: Chewing puppies
Yes, naughtly little Pom Pom!! She's sat at my feet every time I get on the computer (which is rather a lot these days!!!). My wires are now up on top of the desk! It's just too much not to get their teeth into something. I agree, kongs are brilliant and also the bones and raw hide chews - but there are only so many chews you can give in one day. Hopefully after their teething they should settle down a bit and Toby is probably just getting his back nashers through which might account for the gap in between. (gap in between chewing sessions I hasten to add, not gap between his teeth!!)
