Why do they have to eat these odd things?

Post  Elizabeth Axe on Tue Feb 09, 2010 6:18 pm

Had to laugh last night. I went into the kitchen and Toby was snoozing (or so I thought) in Bertie's cage and Bertie was laying down quietly for once under the table. I started making a cup of tea and heard a crunch, of course I quickly looked at Bertie and then Toby - not a movement, I thought I'd dreamt the crunch so got on with the tea...

Crunch... looked around no movement...

Crunch... I knew I wasn't dreaming, No movement from Bertie but Toby's eyes looked a little furtive.

I went over to investigate, He'd just finished eating a pair of plastic scissor handles!!!!!!

He'd obviously stolen them off the sink top where they'd been washed. This isn't the first pair he's crunched up either - little bee.

Why do they do these things? Why oh why......?

Is Toby catching the 'naughty' gene from his brother!!! Raffi is currently being a cat....she is sitting on top of the settee looking out of the window. (it's where our cat sits normally!!)

They do do strange things don't they? We often say Pebbles is more like a cat than a dog! She loves her home comforts, nicks all the best seats, is choosy about who she gives her affection to etc etc.

Today she stole the butter from the worktop and a bag of tomaoes from the fridge - all because she felt ignored I think

Oh Liz! What a naughtly little Bertie houdinikins! Scissor handles are a new one on me!!!
They love to see what's going on, so I guess sitting on the top of the settee is a nosey way of keeping track on whats happening! Lots of dogs do that though, my Mums old Westie used to do it. I think Doodles are so intelligent - you will have to put it down to 'creativity' Liz!!!

How funny sorry Elizabeth but Toby and Berties antics do make me laugh! Scruffy likes glasses too, my daughters new pair of Mr Bump glassed got chewed I embarrisingly went back with this pair of glasses she had had only a week in two halves, not the first time it had happened , Mind you Mark has had 3 night guards chewed, that has cost us £150 at the dentist, I blame Mark if he will insist on leaving it by his bed without putting it in the case what do you expect!!!!

To be honest my specs demise was my fault too, leaving them in easy reach of a darling little doodle girl

What anaughty Scruffy! Do you she isgoing by the 'tasty' smell of mouthguard or the simple high of doing something mischeivous?

I have just been upstairs and on my way I noticed something.... we have a half landing with a low window looking out onto our street and on the landing there were little bits of chewed up wood, just underneath the window. I couldn't work out what it was at first but i did know that Winnie was involved! The mystery was solved when I went into George's room and saw that his wooden dinosaur model had a piece of backbone missing!! I thought it was funny that Winnie must have gone into George's room and 'chosen' the doomed piece of dinosaur before taking it to her lookout to chew it up, while she could still enjoy seeing people going past our house!!!!! What a monkey! I haven't broken the news to George yet, I think I'll wait to see if he notices.

By the way Winnie is not allowed upstairs so it was doubly naughty of her!!!

Naughty Winnie but very clever too!!!
I had to put a stairgate on the top of the stairs to stop any doodle forays.
